BENTON – The Benton Police Department released the following information on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023.

On 9/01/23 at approximately 8:13 p.m., Benton Police arrested Dennis Cody Summers, 29, of Benton on a Franklin County warrant in the 200 block of Bailey Lane. Summers was transported to the Franklin County Jail.

On 09/01/23 at approximately 11:19 p.m., Benton Police arrested Andrew S. Jennings, 34, on an active Jackson County warrant for failure to appear for Identity Theft in the 200 block of N. Main Street. Jennings was transported to the Franklin County Jail.

On 9/02/23 at approximately 4:55 p.m., Benton Police responded to the 300 block of N. Buchanan Street to a report of a theft.  Through further investigation Benton Police arrested Kyle J. Kujawa, 28, for Theft and Criminal Damage to Property. During the course of the arrest, Kujawa fled on foot and was quickly apprehended. Kujawa resisted arrest and was taken into custody.  Kujawa was also charged with two counts of Resisting a Peace Officer. Kujawa was taken to the Franklin County Jail.

On 9/03/23 at approximately 1:44 a.m., Benton Police were called to the 1400 block of South Pope Street to the report of a criminal trespass to a residence. Benton Police arrested Tasha Nicole Tucker, 35, for Criminal Trespass to Property. Tucker was taken to the Franklin County Jail.

On 09/03/23 at approximately 7:14 a.m., Benton Police responded to the 400 block of North 10th Street to a report of criminal trespass to property. Upon arrival Benton Police arrested Michael D. Motsinger, 41, for Criminal Trespass to Property and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Motsinger was transported to the Franklin County Jail.

On 9/03/23 at approximately 7:45 a.m., Benton Police responded again to the 1400 block of South Pope Street to a report of criminal trespass. Benton Police arrested Tasha Nicole Tucker, 35, and charged her with Criminal Trespass to Property. She was taken to the Franklin County Jail.

On 9/04/23 at approximately 3:57 p.m., Benton Police arrested Gene D. Broadway, 46, on an Franklin County warrant for Driving on Suspended Driver’s License in the 1100 block of Glendale Street. Broadway was taken to the Franklin County Jail.

On 9/03/23 at approximately 9:08 p.m., Benton Police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South Main and Williams Street for no illuminated registration plate and a defective passenger taillight. The driver was identified as 36-year-old Justin S. Forsythe. A Franklin County K9 was called to the stop and indicated a positive alert. During the search of the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded handgun along with loose ammunition and a clear Ziplock bag of cannabis. A fraudulent driver’s license and Social Security card belonging to Forsythe was also discovered. Forsythe was arrested and charged with Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Firearm without Requisite Firearm Owner’s I.D. Card, Possession of Firearm Ammunition without Requisite Firearm Owner’s I.D. card, Unlawful Possession of a Fraudulent Driver’s License, and Unlawful Possession of a Fraudulent Identification Card. Forsythe was taken to the Franklin County Jail.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
