CARBONDALE – Carbondale Police have arrested a man involved in an early Wednesday morning home invasion in the 1000 block of West Gher Street in Carbondale.
Police responded to the scene at 3:16 a.m. and learned that 31-year-old Dakota W. Mitchell of Carbondale and other unidentified suspects forced entry to the victim’s home. The victim was battered by Mitchell and received minor injuries. Mitchell and the other suspects fled the home on foot. The victim fired shots at the suspects with a personal legally owned firearm during the incident.
Mitchell was later located in the area and was arrested for Home Invasion, Criminal Damage to Property, Criminal Trespass to Residence, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer. A second suspect was described as a male with a medium complexion wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. No further suspect descriptions are available at this time. There is no indication at this time that any of the suspects were injured during this incident as a result of the victim firing shots.
A police investigation revealed the incident was the result of a personal dispute between Mitchell and the victim.
Mitchell was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.
