HERRIN – The City of Herrin will hold its Spring Cleanup April 22-26.
You should have your items curbside on your regular trash day. They should be household items only.
Items Included During Curbside Cleanup:
All items that are not stand-alone items must be bagged:
- Bags cannot exceed 50 lbs. each.
 - Carpet: Must be cut into bundles: Bundles cannot be longer than 4 ft. in length, cannot exceed 50 lbs. each, and must be tied with string/twine.
 - Furniture: Couches, chairs dressers, tables, bookshelves, desks, headboards, etc. Mattress sets.
 - Glass portions of doors, windows, etc. These must be broken and placed into a small box marked “glass.”
 - All nails/staples or anything sharp that is exposed must be removed to prevent injury to the collector.
 - Basketball sets/poles: These must be broken down/cut into 4 ft. sections and cannot exceed 50 lbs. per section. (Please do not include concrete.)
 
Items Not Included During Curbside Cleanup:
- Construction debris/home remodel or demolition debris of any kind.
 - Shingles, drywall, vinyl siding, molding/trim, fencing, kitchen cabinets, etc.
 - Appliances (refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers)
 - Loose trash or trash in cardboard boxes
 - Air Conditioners
 - Water Heaters
 - Concrete
 - Tires
 - Any liquid form of lead/oil-based paint or varnish
 - Batteries
 - Yard Waste
 - Fluorescent light bulbs
 - Any other items not listed identified as hazardous waste
 - Electronic Waste – due to Illinois State Law, electronics cannot be disposed of in landfills and therefore cannot be placed at the curb for pickup. This includes televisions, computer monitors/accessories, and DVD/VCR.
