WEST FRANKFORT – A Royalton man is facing meth charges following an early Wednesday morning traffic stop in West Frankfort.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office tells us they received a request from the West Frankfort Police Department for assistance at a traffic stop at 1 a.m. Wednesday. Franklin County Sheriff’s Lt. Jared Anthis and K9 Vader responded to the 500 block of West Poplar Street.

Upon arrival, the West Frankfort patrolman requested that K9 Vader conduct a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle involved in the traffic stop. K9 Vader was deployed and as a result 90 grams of suspected Methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia associated with the sale of narcotics was recovered from the vehicle. The estimated street value of 90 grams of methamphetamine is $5,000.

As a result, 35-year-old Wesley A. Miller of Royalton was arrested by the West Frankfort Police Department and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine (Class 1 Felony) and Possession with the Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine (Class X Felony).

At the time of the arrest, Miller was on Mandatory Supervised Release (Parole). Due to the arrest by the West Frankfort Police Department, the Illinois Department of Corrections issued a DOC Warrant for Miller.

Miller is currently lodged in the Franklin County Jail. Bond has been set on the charges at $75,000.
