SPRINGFIELD – State Representative Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) passed legislation out of the Illinois House of Representatives Thursday evening that makes changes to the admissibility of hospital or public or private agency records in a hearing on an abused, neglected or dependent minor.
According to the representative House Bill 1434 makes it easier for medical records of abused and neglected children to be admitted into court without having extra hurdles that prevents the court from considering that medical evidence when a child is potentially taken into DCFS care or if there are allegations of abuse against a family member or another member of the community.
Windhorst said the bill comes from local feedback.
The bill now moves on to the Senate where Senator Dale Fowler will be handling the legislation.
