SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The National Weather Service in Paducah says the following counties in our listening area are under a Winter Weather Advisory until 10 tonight.

They are Franklin, Hamilton, Jackson, Jefferson, Perry and Wayne.

Freezing rain is expected with total ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch.

Difficult travel conditions are possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

A prolonged period of sub-freezing temperatures preceding this event may allow ice to form on some surfaces even when temperatures rise just above freezing later in the day. There is also the potential that temperatures fail to rise above freezing until sometime later in the evening.

Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages.
