METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023.

Oct. 9, 2023
Metropolis officers were called to a disturbance at Big John’s grocery Store on East 5th Street. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated he was standing in line waiting to purchase groceries. He was struck from behind. When he turned around, he recognized Richard C. Scobie, 53, of Metropolis as the offender. Scobie started yelling at him and then struck him in the chest. Scobie had left prior to the arrival of police. A short time later, officers were called to a residence for a disturbance on East10th Street. This is the residence of Scobie. Officers located Scobie yelling at another person on his front lawn. Scobie was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Battery. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Oct. 13, 2023
A Metropolis sergeant on patrol, observed a black Dodge Ram stopped in the roadway of Fort Massac State Park. The sergeant then observed the driver rapidly accelerate causing the rear tires to squeal. A traffic stop was conducted. A computer check on the driver, Joshua J. Medved, 27, of Coal City.IL, revealed that he had a suspended driver’s license. Medved was arrested and transported to the Metropolis Police Department for processing. Medved was then released on a notice to appear.

Oct. 14, 2023
A Metropolis officer stopped a silver Toyota Rav4 for speeding 65 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. A computer check on the driver, Cody J. Stuckey, 28, of Rockford, IL revealed that he was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by DeKalb County, IL for FTA-possession of a controlled substance. Stuckey was issued a citation for the speeding and arrested for the warrant. Stuckey was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
