INA (RLC NEWS) — Rend Lake College is pleased to announce the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Banterra Sports Complex on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. This event follows the project’s groundbreaking in October 2024 and signifies a major advancement in campus athletic resources.
RLC invites the community, alumni, and friends of RLC to the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the Banterra Sports Complex. This landmark event marks the completion of The Game Plan capital campaign, a $6.5 million project created to renovate and expand the facilities at Waugh Gymnasium.
Renovations of the complex included approximately 5,688 square feet of additional space for a new entryway/lobby, concessions, training room and new restrooms. The existing 32,000 square feet has been renovated to include new digital scoreboards, scorers’ bench, locker rooms, office space and more.
This project was made possible through the lead partnership with Banterra Bank, whose donation of $1 million to name the Banterra Sports Complex, and Deaconess Illinois with their $250,000 donation towards a new athletic training room. Alongside these partnerships, 40 major donors (those who gave $5,000 or more) have committed to being a part of The Game Plan.
Refreshments, photos, and self-guided tours of the facility will follow the ceremony. Starting at 5:30 p.m., the Warrior and Lady Warrior basketball teams are scheduled to compete in a double-header, offering the public an opportunity to experience the upgraded environment firsthand. Entry to the games will be free, and attendees are welcome to enjoy free popcorn as well.
