PADUCAH – Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Paducah have issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire area from Midnight Friday night to 6 p.m. Sunday.
You can expect heavy snow as a band of 8 to 13 inch accumulations will happen across parts of southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, southwest Indiana and western Kentucky while other locations across southern Illinois and far southwest Kentucky will see 6 to 10 inches of accumulation.
There will be periods of heavy sleet in far southeast Missouri and western Kentucky, with freezing rain mixed in, along with some sleet accumulation and up to a light glaze of freezing rain.
Travel could be very difficult and may become impossible at times. Extreme cold will exacerbate the danger.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions can be obtained by visiting www.weather.gov/pah/roads.
A Cold Weather Advisory will also be in effect from 6 tomorrow night to 6 Sunday night.

The cold wind chills as low as 10 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. The winter storm will exacerbate these dangers.
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
