METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Fire Department is warning residents about a phone scam after a local resident reported that someone claiming to sell Medicaid and other insurance services called them, and when they attempted to return the call, it went straight to the fire department.
The fire department is not associated with any insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare sales activities and it doesn’t make unsolicited phone calls requesting personal or financial information.
If you receive a call like this, do not provide any personal, financial or insurance information over the phone unless you know who is calling you. If you don’t know the caller, please report the call to the Illinois Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division or your local law enforcement agency.
