CARMI/MCLEANSBORO – The White County and Hamilton County Senior Citizen’s Centers will be cutting back days they will be open starting Dec. 1.
According to a news release from White County Senior Citizen’s Center Executive Director Vicki Harrelson, these changes are being made due to inadequate funding.
The Hamilton County site in McLeansboro will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. It will be closed Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Seniors will be able to get a frozen meal for their Thursday meal and weekend meals.
The White County site in Carmi will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. It will be closed on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Seniors will be able to get a frozen meal for their Wednesday meal and weekend meals.
Hamilton County seniors are welcome to enjoy a congregate meal at the White County site in Carmi on Thursdays. White County seniors can do the same at the Hamilton County site on Wednesday. RIDES Mass Transit will provide transportation to any seniors interested in dining at another center.
To get your senior ID to ride the RMTD bus for free, call the Hamilton County site at 618-634-9148 or the White County site at 618-382-3111.
Harrelson says they hope these changes are temporary and will help them keep the doors open to serve the seniors of White and Hamilton County to the best of their ability.
