The City of Mt. Vernon is proud to recognize April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, standing alongside survivors and working to build a safer, more informed community for everyone.
Today, we welcomed representatives from SAFE to City Hall for a proclamation ceremony. While Mayor Lewis was unable to attend, he signed the proclamation in support of this important effort. Councilman Mike Young presented the proclamation on behalf of the City.
SAFE plays a vital role in our community by providing support, resources, and education to those affected by sexual assault. Their work helps ensure that no one has to face these challenges alone.
Awareness leads to understanding, and understanding leads to stronger communities. Together, we can make a difference.
