WEST FRANKFORT – As National Canned Food Month continues, the U of I Extension: Franklin, Jackson, Perry, Randolph and Williamson counties have partnered with the Franklin County Office of Emergency Management and Communications to host the 3rd annual preparedness event for the community.

“Stock Your Emergency Kit and Your Local Food Pantry,” is an event to promote the awareness of canned items you can put in your emergency kit at home, as well as donate non-perishable items for local food pantries.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at McCord’s Market on West Frankfort.

OEMC personnel will be there to load up with your non-perishable items so the food pantry can be filled back up. The event will also show you what other items you can include in your emergency kit at home.
