THOMPSONVILLE – Roy L. Pribble, 93, of Thompsonville, passed away at 3:20 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the VA Medical Center in Marion, IL.
He was born on May 10, 1932, in Carterville, IL, to John and Pearl (Blessing) Pribble. Roy married Mary Alice Summers, and she preceded him in death on November 22, 2014.
Roy was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.
After his service, he attended college and later worked at Herrin and Carbondale hospitals as a dietitian and in administration. Following his retirement, he began working for Federal Crop Insurance.
He was a member of East Benton Baptist Church and later joined Calvary Baptist Church in West Frankfort. He was also a member of the Akin Masonic Lodge for 59 years and the Franklin County Shriners.
Roy deeply loved his family and cherished time spent with them. He enjoyed visiting the farm and helping wherever needed. Most of all, his family was his pride and joy—he looked forward to family gatherings and especially loved cooking for everyone.
Roy is survived by his son, Tim Pribble (Clytie Zimmerman) of Thompsonville, IL; four grandchildren, Jeremiah (Dana) Pribble of Goreville, IL, Amanda (Kris) Mayberry of Norris City, IL, Josh (Stacy) Pribble of Thompsonville, IL, and Jacob Pribble of Thompsonville, IL; eight great-grandchildren, Loren (Reice) Pribble, Shelby Pribble, both of Goreville, IL; Blaire Mayberry, Marissa Mayberry, and Brayden Mayberry, all of Norris City, IL; Alan Pribble, Casey (Raleigh) Pribble, and Courtney Pribble (Gavin Melton), all of Thompsonville, IL; and one great-great-grandchild, Oaklynn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl Pribble; his wife, Mary Alice Pribble; his daughter-in-law, Debbie Pribble; four brothers, Ed, Bob, Andy, and Gene; and one sister, Geneva.
Services have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home and Crematory, 301 South Main Street, Benton, IL.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL, with The Reverend Lloyd Whittaker officiating.
The family extends a very special appreciation and thanks to Carolyn West for her caregiving to Mary and Roy, as well as to the VA staff at the hospital and the CLC Unit Hospice.
