MT. VERNON – Mt. Vernon Fire Chief Chris Yenne has announced that residents will be able to burn leaves starting Monday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct. 19 and again on Monday, Nov. 10 through Sunday, Nov. 16.
Leaf burning is permitted between sunrise and sunset on each of those days and must be attended by someone at least 18 years old.
You can’t burn leaves on any public street, public sidewalk, drainage ditch within the public right-of-way nor any manhole cover, or on someone else’s property without written permission.
The fire chief can prohibit leaf burning due to high winds, dry conditions and other factors.
