CHRISTOPHER – Christopher Police Tuesday arrested 51-year-old John D. Read on burglary and drug charges.

According to police, they responded to a home after getting a report about Read being dressed in all black, possibly “squatting” or burglarizing an abandoned home.
Police found Read in a second story style building on the property trying to remove items from within. Police gave verbal commands to Read. He was then taken into custody without incident.
Police say Reed was arrested two weeks prior to Tuesday’s incident for burglary to another rural Christopher home and for possessing meth.
Subsequent to Read’s arrests, he was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and a hypodermic syringe. Read was recently discharged from prison on narcotic-related charges. Read became disorderly with Christopher officers while in custody and sustained a self-inflicted injury on the cage while in custody in the officer’s patrol car.
Read was taken to and lodged in the Franklin County Jail awaiting pickup to be taken back to prison.
