
MOUNDS – Illinois State Police are currently investigating a shooting in Mounds.
According to ISP, agents from its Division of Criminal Investigation were requested by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department to investigate a shooting that happened Friday night in the 200 block of South Reader Avenue in Mounds.
ISP says a 25-year-old woman from Mounds was struck by gunfire. The victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, agents identified the suspect as 26-year-old Amari Acree from Mound City. Agents took Acree into custody a short time later and took her to the Pulaski County Detention Center.
Acree is charged with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm (Class 4 Felony) and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony). Acree is being held on $25,000 bond, 10 percent to apply.
ISP was assisted by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department during this investigation.
The investigation is open and ongoing. No further information will be disseminated according to ISP.
