METROPOLIS – The following information was released by the Metropolis Police Department on Monday, July 3, 2023.

June 28, 2023
Metropolis officers were called to a fight at the city swimming pool. Upon arrival, officers observed numerous people yelling and screaming. After the parties were separated, one of the victims requested EMS for a knot on her head. Samantha J. Norwood, 31, of Metropolis then admitted that she had kicked the victim in the face. Officers reviewed the video surveillance which captured the incident. Norwood was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Kyler L. Little, 24, of Grand Chain, IL was arrested in the 100 block of W. 17th St. Little was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for failure to appear on a DUI charge. Little was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Kyle B. Littlemeyer was arrested in the 1200 block of E. 5th St. Littlemeyer was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for escape. When the Metropolis officer attempted to take him into custody, Littlemeyer swallowed a large amount of blood pressure pills. Littlemeyer was taken to Massac Memorial Hospital for treatment and observation. Upon release, he was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

June 29, 2023
Metropolis officers were called to the 600 block of Broadway. The victim who was operating an excavator was tearing down a home. He advised that a subject identified as Darrell A. McCoy, 50, of Metropolis had thrown a brick at him which broke two windows on the excavator. McCoy then fled. Officers conducted a search of the area and observed items belonging to McCoy, Officers then found one of the doors to the church at 8th and Broadway was broken and unsecured. Officers found McCoy hiding in the basement. McCoy was arrested and charged with a felony count of Criminal Damage to Property and Criminal Trespass to Property. McCoy was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
