MURPHYSBORO – A Murphysboro man has been charged in Jackson County with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Phillip Hindman of Murphysboro at Kinkaid Lake Friday.

According to Jackson County State’s Attorney Joseph A. Cervantez, 18-year-old Nathan E. Randall faces 20 to 60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections if convicted.

Randall is currently in custody at the Jackson County Jail with bond set at $1 million.

He is scheduled to appear in court for preliminary hearing on July 17.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the two men were involved in an altercation at the Paul Ice Boat Ramp at Kinkaid Lake in Murphysboro around 9 p.m. Friday that resulted in Hindman’s death.
