MT. VERNON – The Mt. Vernon City Council will have first readings on multiple ordinance proposals when they meet for their regular meeting tonight. Two of the proposals could raise rates for city residents.

According to the meeting agenda, a first reading will be held of an ordinance that could increase the city sewer rate and a first reading of an ordinance that could increase the city garbage rate.

A second reading will be given of the 2023-2024 budget and Holland Construction will give an update on the progress of the new Police Department facility.

The meeting will be held tonight at 7 at City Hall. It will be streamed live on the city’s Facebook page.
