MCLEANSBORO – Donna Jean (Allen) Schuster, 85, of McLeansboro, IL passed away at 9:34 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at her son’s residence in McLeansboro surrounded by family.

Donna was born on May 12, 1937 in Crook Township in Hamilton County, a daughter of Marshall E. “Pide” and Jewell (Hale) Allen. On August 16, 1960 she married Roy E. Schuster, who preceded her in death.

She had worked at Elder Manufacturing shirt factory in McLeansboro until the birth of her daughter in 1962, and was a cook for Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro for over 20 years. Donna loved country music and was a member of the Hank Williams Sr. Fan Club. She and husband Roy traveled to Georgiana, Alabama to attend the Annual Hank Williams Festival with friends and family as long as they were able. She was of the Protestant faith and had attended Oliver United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Schuster is survived by a son Roy L. Schuster and wife Christina of McLeansboro; a daughter Rita Alexander and husband John of Arnold, MO; four grandchildren Marshall Schuster, Wyatt Schuster, Natalie Alexander and Samuel Alexander; two sisters Eleanor Ray of Poplar Bluff, MO and Joann Satterfield of Marion, IL; one brother Bob Allen and wife Judy of McLeansboro, and a very special caregiver, Tina Burris. Several nephews and nieces also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Roy.

Funeral services for Donna Jean (Allen) Schuster will be held at noon on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Uhles officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. until noon at the church. Interment will follow the funeral service at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro.
