Farmer’s Almanac: Rough Winter Predicted for State

(IRN) – If the Farmers’ Almanac winter weather prediction holds true, Illinoisans should prepare for a rough winter.

The publication is warning readers that this winter will be filled with plenty of “shaking, shivering and shoveling.” Managing editor Sandi Duncan said the forecast comes from a formula that has been used since 1818.

Duncan said Illinois will experience the harshest weather at the first of the year. She said last year the Farmers’ Almanac predicted many of the 2021-2022 winter storms, most notably the early-season nor’easter at the end of October and the April blizzard that hit the Central Plains.
