Carmi Woman Sentenced Five Years for Car Theft

CARMI – A Carmi woman was sentenced in White County Court Monday to the Illinois Department of Corrections for stealing a car.

According to White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud, 30-year-old Emilee J. Duckworth will spend five years in prison and serve one year of mandatory supervised release for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, a Class 2 felony.

Aud saidDuckworth was also recommended to participate in the Impact Incarceration Program (aka “Boot Camp”) in the Department of Corrections and receive substance abuse treatment while in the Department of Corrections.

Duckworth stole a car in May of 2022. She had been on probation in Hamilton County for methamphetamine related charges when she committed the offense that was investigated by Carmi Police Department, with assistance from the Fairfield Police Department and the White County Sheriff’s Department.

Judge Michael Valentine was the presiding judge that imposed the sentence.
