Illinois Forensic Science Commission Seeking to Improve Crime-Solving

(IOCI RADIO) – A new state forensic science commission kicked off its first meeting Monday in hopes of solving more crimes.

The will consider ways the Illinois State Police (ISP) can further improve it’s process and eliminate inefficiencies, as well as study the latest technology with new partners, Director Brendan Kelly said.

Kelly said the commission will build upon the recent success of reducing the DNA backlog by 72%.

ISP has also set up a website to track processing times and for sexual assault survivors to monitor the progress of evidence related to their case(s).
