HARRISBURG – A construction project will begin Monday on Old Illinois 13 and Illinois 13 in Harrisburg starting at 7 a.m. weather permitting.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled by flaggers.
The work on Old Illinois 13 is between the intersections with Illinois 13. The work on Illinois 13 is between the intersection of Illinois 13/U.S. 45 and the Pankey Creek Bridge.
The project includes pavement patching, hot mix asphalt removal, hot mix asphalt paving and ADA sidewalk improvements. The work is expected to last until July 1.
Officials said drivers should obey flaggers, reduce speed, be alert for equipment and workers and use extreme caution while traveling through all work zones.
To avoid any delays, drivers are advised to seek an alternate route. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the work zone as quickly as possible.
