Motorcycle, Forest Service SUV Crash Injures One

GALLATIN COUNTY – A crash involving a motorcycle and a U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement SUV injured one Saturday afternoon in Gallatin County.

According to Illinois State Police, the motorcycle driver, a 45-year-old man from Carrier Mills, was traveling south on Forest Road near Garden of the Gods Road as the Forest Service SUV was sitting stationary waiting to turn on Gardens of the Gods Road from Forest Road.

The motorcycle driver attempted to turn on Garden of the Gods Road and struck the SUV due to equipment malfunctions.

The motorcycle driver was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The SUV driver, a 41-year-old female from Carbondale, refused medical attention.

No names were released by ISP. The motorcycle driver was cited for no valid insurance.
