Rear-End Crash Injures Two in Wayne County

WAYNE COUNTY – Two people were injured in a rear-end crash Friday afternoon on US 45 in Wayne County.

According to Illinois State Police, 22-year-old Madison P. Wilson of Cisne was driving her vehicle south stationary in traffic a quarter-mile north of County Road 2000 North waiting for an unrelated vehicle to clear the roadway when the driver of another vehicle, 25-year-old Adam C. Kemplen of Fairfield, was distracted from within his vehicle and struck the rear of Wilson’s vehicle, causing major damage to both vehicles.

Kemplen and Wilson were both taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Kemplen was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash and Failure to Wear Seatbelt.

All lanes were reopened at 4:30 p.m. after crash investigation and scene clean-up. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
