Mt. Vernon City Manager to Seek Post Office Building Bids Approval

MT. VERNON – The Mt. Vernon City Manager will seek approval from the city council to send the new post office building out for bids at Monday’s 7 p.m. city council meeting at the Rolland Lewis Building at Veterans Park in Mt. Vernon.

In 2019, the city reached an agreement with Milano Metals and Recycling to redevelop the Park Plaza building, where the current post office resides. The land is set to become a trans-loading rail facility, with the new post office to be built at the corner of 10th and Jordan in downtown Mt. Vernon.

In addition, the council will see flooring quotes for the Engineering and Inspections department, and also discuss a resolution to amend the economic development agreement with Meyer Oil Company.
