Benton City Council Passes Resolutions on Sewer Surcharge, Wastewater Treatment Funds

BENTON – The Benton City Council passed a resolution Tuesday involving the sewer surcharge and a resolution restricting funds for the wastewater treatment plant debt reduction and infrastructure.

According to City Clerk Brook Craig, the surcharge was previously only covering debt reduction, now it’s exclusively for sewer infrastructure improvements.

The resolution allows the revenue fund to continue transferring $55,000 per month to the sewer fund, but now with $40,000 towards debt reduction on the wastewater treatment plant and $15,000 for sewer infrastructure improvements/repair.
