Panera commercial featuring Johnston City fireworks debuts

A TV commercial filmed during Johnston City’s fireworks ceremony last month has debuted online. Panera Bread Company paid the city 30-thousand dollars to host the display, as part of nationwide search for a small town who hadn’t hosted fireworks in a while. As part of the deal, Panera shot a 3-minute TV commercial commemorating the event, which drew thousands of people to Arrowhead Lake Amphitheater. Johnston City had not had a fireworks ceremony in several years.

But many people are questioning Panera’s science regarding the use of sodium benzoate, which is found naturally in small amounts in several fruits. Others pointed out that formaldehyde naturally occurs in foods as well.
