The SIU Carbondale Board of Trustees is expected to consider a 3.9 percent tuition increase at a meeting tomorrow. If approved the cost for an undergraduate student to receive a four year bachelor’s degree would raise to roughly $37,800 total. SIU’s chief marketing and communications officer, Rae Goldsmith, says the proposed tuition increase is projected to result in $2.9 million in new revenue, based on flat enrollment. During the 2007-2008 academic year tuition for incoming students was about $27,900 for four years. The board will also consider eliminating out-of-state and other alternative tuition rates for incoming students.
