Miranda Lambert has not publicly commented on the aftermath of her divorce from Blake Shelton, until now. Fox News reports she told the crowd gathered at her show at Joe’s Bar in Chicago last week that she turned to the bottle to get through those first few months.
Miranda said, “I got divorced so I started drinking a little extra. I found myself in Midtown in Nashville three nights in a row at like last call and with the lights coming on, and I’d be sitting there, so I wrote a song about it.”
The song is called “Ugly Lights,” and it’s featured on her latest project, The Weight of These Wings.
Miranda posted an Instagram video late last year in which she said, in part, “I feel really strongly about the only talking I needed to do, I’ve done and it’s on tape. All the parts of me, the parts of the pain I went through, everything that happens to a person in their life — especially in the last couple years for me — is on this record.” For this reason, Miranda opted not to do any interviews leading up to the release of The Weight of These Wings, which dropped in November. Miranda is sharing her new music on the Highway Vagabond tour with special guests Old Dominion and Aubrie Sellers. The tour stops in Providence, RI on Thursday (February 2nd).
