The city of Carbondale is continuing with their preparations for the 2017 solar eclipse. More than 50,000 people are expected to visit the city for the eclipse on August 21st. Last night city leaders discussed an ordinance that would allow people to carry open containers of alcohol excluding glass containers. According to the council’s meeting agenda, leaders expect most activities to take place on “The Strip” on Northbound US 51. The ordinance would be exclusively during eclipse weekend and limited to that area.
