Carbondale and the state of Illinois are partnering together to simplify local liquor inspections. The Illinois Liquor Control Commission announced the Carbondale Liquor Inspections Pilot Program on Wednesday. Under the program officials with the Carbondale Fire Department and Services Division will carry out standard liquor inspections on behalf of the state. Inspections will focus on areas such as health and sanitation license and insurance verification along with deceptive advertising practices. There are currently 68 establishments with liquor licenses in Carbondale. The program will continue through June 30, 2017. At this time the state will decide if they want to make the agreement into an annual, permanent partnership.
