Carbondale Receives Recommendations for Improvements to City Government

Carbondale city leaders received a report on the city government’s health during an informational work session last night. Novak Consulting Group, an independent consulting firm, presented the council with 82 recommendations for improvements in city operations and policies. The group suggested that the city look into improving technology infrastructure, reworking the command structure of the police department, and revisiting the rental inspection program. The group also suggested a cost recovery goal for the Carbondale Civic Center. The city manager was presented with a detailed implementation plan and will now work with department directors to prioritize recommendations.
