City of West Frankfort to Hold Special Meeting About New Police Chief

The West Frankfort City Council is expected to name a new police chief late today during a special session at City Hall. City leaders are expected to name Michael Irwin as the replacement for Shawn Talutto. Irwin retired in 2010 as commander from the Illinois State Police in Du Quoin. Talutto is expected to be named deputy police chief after serving as chief for four years. Before this can happen the council will have to create the position and job description for the deputy police chief. Then the council will approve a resolution to appoint and hire a deputy and a police chief.The council will begin the special session at 11am.
