The Country Music Association will give Dolly Parton its Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award during its half-century celebration next month at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
Created to honor an “iconic artist who has attained the highest degree of recognition in country music,” the award was first bestowed to its namesake in 2012, before being given to Parton’s frequent duet partner Kenny Rogers in 2013. Johnny Cash received the award posthumously last year.
Jimmy Kimmel surprised Dolly with the news during her Monday night appearance on his talk show. You can relieve the moment from Jimmy Kimmel Live! online.
Dolly will accept the honor November 2 when the 50th Annual CMA Awards air live on ABC, starting at 7 p.m. CT.
