First responders are asking for help to provide more protection in local schools. Captain Micah Tolbert with the Metropolis Fire Department has started a campaign to install lock down devices in every classroom in Massac County. The device would be at the bottom of the doors so even if someone broke the glass they wouldn’t be able to pull out the device and unlock the door. The safety lock can withstand almost 1,100 lbs of force and each lock costs around $60. To donate you can click on this link.
