Construction at the Williamson County Regional Airport will be wrapping up in the near future after being placed on hold due to the state budget impasse. The manager of the airport told The Southern Illinoisan that they plan to have the new $14 million, 23,000 square-foot terminal finished by Veteran’s Day. Construction was placed on hold back in July but was able to continue after the stop-gap measure was passed. The manager also said there is a surprise announcement planned for the Veteran’s Day grand opening but he could not give away any details.
