Brown, who is on the road this summer as part of Florida Georgia Line’s 2016 Dig Your Roots Tour, says on Facebook that he was in Nebraska — across the country from his hometown of Red Bank, Tenn. — when he heard the news. According to his post, his sister was stabbed four times.
“You better hope I don’t find out who you are,” Brown writes. “I’m so sick to my stomach right now.”
In the comments underneath Brown’s post, fans are offering their love and prayers, and naming a Facebook user who goes by Heidi Monshell Nevaeh as Brown’s sister. According to WCRB-TV, her real name is Heidi Swafford, and she is 19 years old. The TV station reports that Swafford and another woman were fighting on Tuesday afternoon, around 4:30PM, when she was stabbed in the neck and the shoulder. She was taken to a local hospital, and although her injuries are non-life-threatening, she may have sustained permanent nerve damage.
Police say Heidi, 19, was stabbed by a woman during a fight. She may have permanent nerve damage. No arrests yet.
The Chattanooga Police Department has a warrant out to arrested the woman with whom Swafford was fighting, allegedly a 16-year-old. She has been charged with attempted second degree murder and aggravated assault, but she is not yet in police custody.
After earning a large following online, Brown signed his first major-label record deal with RCA Nashville in January and released his debut major-label EP, Chapter 1, in mid-March. Following his trek with FGL, the singer — who recently dropped a brand-new single, “Thunder in the Rain” — will embark on a headlining tour that is set to begin in November and wrap up in January.
