Morthland drops suit against Franklin Hospital

Morthland College Health Services Friday filed a motion to drop its breach of contract lawsuit against Franklin Hospital and its current administration. MCHS said in a statement that they are willing to forego its damages — which amount to more than $3.5 million — for the opportunity to restore healthcare to Franklin County. Last Tuesday, MCHS President Dr. Tim Morthland announced his intentions to build a new privately-funded hospital in Benton. Later this month, the Franklin Hospital board will consider Morthland’s proposal to manage the current hospital and eventually privatize it, while adding healthcare services needed in Franklin County.
