Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is suing the Jimmy John’s sandwich chain accusing it of forcing its employees to sign non-compete agreements. Madigan says those agreements prevented employees from working for any business within three miles of a Jimmy John’s making at least 10 percent of its revenue from subs or deli sandwiches. The Champaign-based sandwich chain initially said it had stopped using such agreements last year, but Madigan’s office says that policy was never implemented. Madigan says those agreements are illegal and unenforceable under Illinois law.
