Marion — Parts of Southern Illinois are flooded after strong storms rolled through the area last night. The storms hit the area at around 6:00 producing strong winds along with downpours of rain and hail as well as multiple watches and warnings. The strongest of the systems moved through Franklin County spawning a total of eight watches and a reported tornado touchdown near Orient although that has not been confirmed by the National Weather Service. The storms also caused widespread flooding in the area with several counties experiencing flash flooding. There are no reports of any structural damage or injuries related to the storm. Drivers are reminded not to try and cross flooded roads.
