Jackson Co. – Two are dead following two separate single vehicle accidents in Jackson County on Saturday. According to a release from the Carbondale Police Department one accident happened at the intersection of Bigler Road and East Walnut Street in Carbondale. Officers were called to the location where they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. When the fire was put out it was found that the driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Ethan Baker of Carbondale was still inside. He was pronounced dead on the scene. A report from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office states that the second accident happened on IL-149 near the intersection of Mileur Orchard Road when a vehicle being driven by David Fehr left the westbound roadway and crashed into a heavily wooded area, striking several trees. Fehr was airlifted to an Evansville area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Both accidents remain under investigation.
