Senate President Cullerton Backtracks on Proposed “Mileage Tax” Bill

Springfield – Illinois Senate President John Cullerton is backtracking on a proposal he made that would tax Illinois drivers by the mile. Cullerton sent out a series of Tweets on Friday stating that the purpose of the proposal was to start discussion and debate about what could be done to replace the state’s faltering gas tax. He said that he received “a lot” of constructive feedback that will help shape policies in the future and that he will not be moving forward with the bill.
