Community Forum Scheduled in Carbondale in Efforts to Curb Recent Violence

Carbondale — The city of Carbondale is set to host a community forum in an effort to make the city safer in the wake of a recent rash of violence. According to a release, the topic will be “What can we as a community do to make Carbondale safer and more welcoming to everyone.” The discussion will be led by Dr. John Washburn and members of the city council and police department will be on hand as well as representatives from SIU. There have been four shootings in Carbondale in the past two weeks. The forum will take place at City Hall starting at 6:00 on the night of April 21st and will be open to all citizens.
