Preliminary Hearing in Dr. Burns’ Murder Case Pushed Back

Preliminary Hearing in Dr. Burns’ Murder Case Pushed Back

Saline Co. — A preliminary hearing for a Harrisburg doctor accused of murdering his estranged wife last month is being pushed back. According to court records, the hearing was set to take place yesterday in Saline County Court, but was pushed back due to the amount of evidence that the Illinois State Police Crime Lab still needs to process. Dr. Brian Burns is accused of shooting and killing Carla Burns and then burning her body. Both sides in the case agreed to delay the hearing since the delay at the crime lab involves what they call “items of critical evidence.” Burns faces three felony charges, two involving murder and another for hiding evidence.
