Herrin — A Carterville woman is facing charges after a two vehicle wreck on Herrin Road yesterday afternoon. According to State Police Accident Reports, a vehicle being driven by Amanda McCormick of Carterville was headed eastbound on Herrin Road near Collins Road when she rear-ended a Deputy US Marshal’s squad SUV. McCormick told police that she was distracted by her cell phone. Her and her passengers, 3 children, were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. One of the officers in the Deputy Marshall’s vehicle was also hospitalized with minor injuries. McCormick was cited for distracted driving and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
