Luke Bryan will open the 2016 ACM Awards with a very special live performance.
The country superstar is hosting the show again this year, this time along with his newly-anointed co-host, Dierks Bentley, who is stepping up to replace longtime ACMs co-host Blake Shelton. Bryan and Bentley held a press conference in Las Vegas on Friday (April 1), and along the way they spilled a few new details about the ceremony, including the fact that Bryan will kick things off with a live performance of “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day.”
The song is the current single from Bryan’s Kill the Lights album, which he released in August of 2015. The song is a bit of an anomaly in Bryan’s musical catalog, with a strong streak of classic Alabama in the arrangement, but its lyrics speak directly to the country lifestyle crowd that is his strongest base of fans.
Bryan is also nominated for Entertainer of the Year this year, an award he took home in 2015.
“Anytime you get the Entertainer nomination, it is a huge deal, and you know you are always going to be in there with the best of the best, and certainly all of the other nominees are that,” he tells the Boot. “It is always an exciting moment of the night; the big Entertainer portion of the show is pretty crazy stuff.”
The 39-year-old is up against some of the top names in country music for the honor, including Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, Garth Brooks and Jason Aldean.
The 2016 ACM Awards will air live from Las Vegas April 3 at 8PM EST on CBS.
