State Police to Conduct Nighttime Patrols in Union Co.

Union Co. – The Illinois State Police are announcing nighttime patrols in Union County this month in an effort to promote safe driving. According to a release from the Department, officers conducting the patrols will be keeping a close lookout for drunk drivers, especially those transporting open alcoholic beverages. 40 percent of all fatal crashes in the state come as the result of driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. They’ll also be watching for those driving with expired registrations and insurance, drivers and passengers not wearing seat belts and distracted drivers.
